PHOENIX, NY – January 16, 2012 (By Dave Medler) – There might be snow on the ground with temperatures in the teens here in upstate New York, but the work inside the walls of Gypsum Racing is heating up as the team is putting the final touches on the cars that will head south to start the 2012 racing season.
The Late Models for Billy Decker’s Gypsum Wholesalers, Stadium International Trucks, Integra Racing Shocks, LJL Kevlar Racing Engines, Rocket, No.91 and Larry Wight’s Gypsum Express, Stadium International Trucks, Tracey Road Equipment, NAPA, Syracuse Haulers, LJL Kevlar Racing Engines, Bicknell, No. 99L Big Block Modifieds are having the finishing touches put on them.
Once in Florida Decker will be at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL February 16 through February 18 before heading to Volusia Speedway Park near Daytona February 25 through February 29 to wrap up the winter swing.
Larry Wight due to college commitments will only be racing his Big Block Modified in Volusia. The dates for the Modifieds are February 22 through February 25.
Rumors have run rampant about the direction of the Brewerton and Fulton Speedways for the 2012 season. Things will remain the same at both tracks for all divisions after a successful 2011. John Wight, Harvey Fink and Cory Reed are finalizing the schedules and special events. Look for releases on the tracks websites and Facebook pages.
With no home track points for the Modifieds, the Gypsum Race Team will be hitting the higher paying shows in New York and Pennsylvania this upcoming season.
Once the racing starts down south keep checking www.gypsumracing.com for daily updates.
February 21 Volusia Speedway Park - Larry Wight had a tough night in the Late Models getting hard into the fence in his heat race getting upside down, Larry was okay. Billy Decker made the A-Main through one of the three B-Mains.
